The new version of the platform has a number of added features, including support for Honeywell’s Comfort Control API, which makes the platform compatible with additional Honeywell WiFi thermostats. In addition, the new platform update boasts the Set for Savings tool — a key new feature that makes personalized recommendations to customers based on energy and billing data to boost the potential for savings.
“As connected thermostats increase in popularity, there is a significant opportunity to integrate proactive advice based on energy and billing data into the customer experience,” said Alex Kinnier, Opower’s SVP of Product. “Set for Savings is our latest feature to not only help customers become more efficient, but to make their overall experience significantly more enjoyable.”
Direct Energy — which is one of North America’s largest energy and energy-related services providers with more than 6 million residential and commercial customer relationships — is our latest partner to deploy the thermostat solution at scale. With the deployment, a new smart thermostat rate plan will be available to all 700,000 of Direct Energy’s residential customers in Texas.
“Direct Energy’s connected home program gives our customers the ability to control and learn about their energy usage, through Opower’s leading software and Honeywell’s proven thermostats,” said Adam Miller, Direct Energy’s Senior Director, Innovation. “Direct Energy will match our expert home services network, which includes One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, with Opower and Honeywell to bring together great customer experience, a high degree of reliability and a joint commitment to helping customers save money on their bills with a competitively priced energy plan.”
